While I see myself more as a writer than a photographer, Kerala is an extremely photogenic place. I have not had any time to edit these photos, but I thought that I would share them with you anyway.
These are some of my favorite photos from my the first three days of the Kerala Blog Express. Enjoy!
After arriving at Trivandrum Airport, I was driven to Poovar where I boarded a boat to the Estuary Island Resort.
That night we were treated to a traditional local dance show.
The next morning I took a boat across the estuary to the beach where local fisherman were hard at work pulling in their nets. I wrote about them here.
Two boys in a small boat on the estuary.
On our first day of the tour we visited a few hotels. The day ended with this amazing sunset.
On the second day we visited Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Trivandrum. This temple holds a treasure of $19 billion.
The children’s smiles were arguably more impressive.
We then visited the Napier Museum which has an architecture that mixes Indian, British Colonial and Islamic features.
The final stop was the ancient royal palace. Padmanabhapuram Palace was nice to look at.
But the taste of this delicious local fruit is just as memorable.
The next day we went to a beach where priests prepared offering for people to throw into the ocean. The offering is for one’s ancestors. The flowers are thrown over the head into the sea.
At the beach I ran into this father and son. The boy’s smile is AMAZING!
We then visited a hotel where they served us lunch aboard a houseboat.
These spicy prawns are among the best things I have had thus far in India.
We were then treated to a traditional turtle boat race.
The winning team was happy to celebrate their hard earned victory.
We then watched an amazing sunset over the lake!
will have more photos from days 4-6 coming soon! Let me know if you like these photo posts or you would prefer to wait for a written post about all of my experiences here. Thanks for being there!
