9th March 2014
I’m writing this from the airport in Abu Dhabi en route to India. Since I got back from Zanzibar I barely had time to breathe before I had to prepare for my next trip. Its been a whirlwind few weeks. This morning I left Berlin where I attended ITB Berlin, probably the biggest tourism trade show around. My mind is still reeling from the scale of the show and all the people I met.
A few days before I left Johannesburg for Berlin I found out that I’d been accepted to participate in the Kerala Blog Express, a blog trip through my favourite state in India with 26 other international travel bloggers, writers and photographers. Last week was a crazy rush trying to arrange flights and visas. Big kudos to the Indian embassy who where super helpful in assiting me with getting my visa. I managed to get it overnight!
This is my 4th trip to India, and will be my second time in Kerala. The state, who’s marketing slogan is ‘God’s own country’ is famed for its peaceful backwaters, ayurvedic spas and golden beaches. I was last there 3 years ago, and I fell in love with it. We travelled to the romantic tea plantations at Munnar, Varkala beach – a sweet resort town, and spent a night on a traditional Kerala houseboat cruising the backwaters and feasting on local seafood delights.
So excited that my next Kerala is about to begin tomorrow! Follow the #KeralaBlogexpress hashtag on Twitter and Instagram for updates!
